Parker, CEO of HealthCare Delivery, to Depart DentaQuest

Boston, MA – Today, DentaQuest announced that Jeffrey Parker, CEO of Healthcare Delivery, notified them he would be departing the company at the end of the year, which follows his successful leadership of the affiliation between Sarrell Dental and DentaQue

A bold innovator in the field of dental care, Parker’s transformational leadership of a small, Alabama-based nonprofit, Sarrell Dental, propelled it to become the largest dental practice in the state. Under his leadership, the nonprofit served over 800,000 patient visits, creating a compelling, first-of-its-kind model that attracted national attention. To advance the success of Sarrell, Parker helped forge an affiliation with DentaQuest, where he continued to support programs seeking to care for the underserved in Texas and Kentucky.

“I set out on a mission several years ago to find a solution to the under-met dental needs of at-risk kids,” said Parker.  “I hired the best team to go do it, and today, I’m pleased at what we’ve accomplished together.  I’m excited that the affiliation with DentaQuest has helped bolster and advance this mission even further, and together, these two organizations will continue to innovate the field in a way that helps otherwise ignored victims of a failed system get the care they need.”

While originally ignored and challenged by the dental community, Parker and his work at Sarrell began making national headlines several years ago, including a profile on PBS’s Frontline and a leading piece in Slate.  Since then, Parker’s ground-breaking work has received numerous national and international accolades. In 2013, he was named a HealthLeader20, the first ever from the dental field. Later, in the same year, forbes.com called Parker a "disruptive innovator" in the healthcare field. In 2014, he was the first person in the dental field to be named an Ashoka Fellow for his work as a social entrepreneur.  Earlier this year, Parker was awarded an honorary doctorate from the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health.

"Over the tenure of my career, I’ve held the chief executive spot for several companies, I’ve been a collegiate professor in academia, and now, I’ve been a pioneer in the field of nonprofit dental care.  This has been one of the most rewarding chapters of my career and my life,” said Parker. “The tireless work of the team I’ve had the privilege to work alongside has made a real difference in kids’ lives and I’m proud of what they have and will continue to do.”
