Jeffrey Parker, CEO DentaQuest Care Group, Earns Edward B. Shils Entrepreneurial Fund’s Special Recognition Award

Philadelphia, PA – October 30, 2014 – The Edward B. Shils Entrepreneurial Fund presented its Special Recognition Award to Jeffrey Parker, CEO of the DentaQuest Care Group and Chairman of the Sarrell Dental Centers, on October 29 at the Union League of Phil

Parker began his role with Sarrell after a successful career with major corporations, retiring at age 40 after holding president and CEO roles with large consumer packaged goods companies. While acting as Executive in Residence at his alma mater, Jacksonville State University, Parker was asked by Dr. Warren Sarrell to help run a new dental center. With Parker’s guidance, the small, single office center has grown to 16 offices that see over 140,000 patient visits a year, and a mobile dental bus that takes care to the underserved in outlying areas. September marked the one year anniversary of Sarrell Dental being part of the DentaQuest Care Group, an affiliation that has allowed Parker’s Sarrell model to spread to two new states.

For his work, Parker and Sarrell Dental gained national attention from Forbes and from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Parker was named as of the twenty top health leaders in the country by HealthLeaders magazine, the first person in the dental field to ever receive this honor. Earlier this year, he was made a Fellow by Ashoka: Innovators for the Public as a social entrepreneur. When asked about receiving a Shils award, Parker said, “I am honored. Being recognized by such a prestigious group as the Shils Fund is further validation of our self-sustaining non-profit model. I am proud that they see that truly high quality work can be provided for the underserved without relying on government grants.”
