Dr. Myechia Minter-Jordan Named One of Boston Business Journal’s Women Who Mean Business
The award honors women in the Greater Boston area who have shown commitment and leadership in their industries.
Dr. Myechia Minter-Jordan, President and CEO of the DentaQuest Partnership for Oral Health Advancement and Catalyst Institute, today was named one of Boston Business Journal’s 2020 Women Who Mean Business.
Recipients were chosen by the BBJ based on “leadership in their fields, representation of the Greater Boston community, and demonstration of significant growth in their companies.”
In her current role, Dr. Minter Jordan has pioneered the work of the DentaQuest Partnership to drive systems change and innovation in oral health.
During the COVID-19 crisis this year, Dr. Minter-Jordan and the DentaQuest Partnership conducted important research on the role oral health can play in promoting the overall health of patients during the pandemic, promoted the essential role dentists can play in administering COVID-19 vaccines, sought to ensure students continue to receive vital oral health care, helped dentists return to providing preventive care safely, and brought major stakeholders together to transform the oral health system in a way that is more effective and equitable.
“I am honored to receive this award on behalf of everyone here at the DentaQuest Partnership and all those we partner with on this important work,” Dr. Minter Jordan said. “This year has exposed long-standing inequities and inefficiencies in health care and across our society. Oral health must be part of the solution to those deep-rooted problems, and it’s time for us to transform our system so that it is more integrated, effective, and equitable for all. I am committed to leading this change as both an individual and as part of the DentaQuest Partnership team.”
Earlier this year, Dr. Minter Jordan joined with other leaders to create the New Commonwealth Racial Equity and Social Justice Fund focused on ending systemic racism and driving meaningful change. DentaQuest and the DentaQuest Partnership committed $2 million to the fund. Championing a perspective that has generally been unheard by the industry, she also spoke out about the role that oral health must play in combating the systemic racism that exists in health care today.
As President and CEO, Dr. Minter-Jordan leads by emphasizing DentaQuest’s core notion that oral health is critical to total health and makes a significant impact on physical and social wellbeing. She is a driving force behind the organization’s work to increase understanding of oral health barriers and what these barriers mean to peoples’ lives, as well as the work to disseminate the DentaQuest Partnership’s proven solutions that promote greater access and more interconnected and affordable care — the keys to improving oral health nationwide. Dr. Minter-Jordan joined DentaQuest in 2019 after 12 years at the Roxbury, Mass.-based Dimock Center. Prior to Dimock, Dr. Minter-Jordan worked for Johns Hopkins Medicine as an attending physician and instructor of medicine. She graduated from Brown University School of Medicine and the Johns Hopkins University Carey School of Business and received honorary doctorates from Northeastern University and Newbury College.
