DentaQuest Celebrates Continued Success in Second Year of TennCare Partnership

Year-Two Results Showcase Tennessee Medicaid Dental Program’s Commitment to Improving Children’s Oral Health

Nashville, Tenn. – DentaQuest is proud to announce that in its second year of leading TennCare’s dental program for children, results point to continued improved dental care access for 810,000 enrolled children statewide, topping last year’s outstanding work to bring preventive dental services to children in Tennessee.

“In our second year partnering with the state of Tennessee to oversee the TennCare dental program, we further implemented strategies to provide reliable, high-quality care to kids who need it most,” said Tennessee executive director for DentaQuest Steven Brady. “Not only did we continue to educate eligible Tennesseans and reach even more people in need in our second year, but we identified best practices for the coming years.”

In addition to reaching an all-time high for enrollment by increasing membership by 60,000 members to 810,000 enrolled children, DentaQuest held 80 local events across the state to educate families on the importance of routine dental care. All enrollees were also paired with patient- and family-centered dental homes to ensure comprehensive, coordinated care. And, by prioritizing preventive care and identifying cost efficiencies, the second year of the contract saw savings of more than $27.5 million under the baseline in 2013.

“These compelling results not only demonstrate the value of our partnership with TennCare, but also illustrate that this model works and can be replicated to improve the oral health of all across the United States,” said Steve Pollock, president and CEO of DentaQuest.
